What is BioWin doing during the COVID-19 crisis?

Belgium has been living in slow motion for 7 weeks now. Like most organizations, BioWin continues its activities remotely and the team is working at full speed. In recent weeks, the interaction with members, governments and federal task forces has been very intense. One goal: to provide solutions to the current crisis!
Creation of a collaborative platform
Very soon after the start of containment and the appearance of the first shortages in the healthcare sector, BioWin set up a collaborative platform to centralize and structure supply and demand.
With initially a regional and national scope, this platform is gradually being extended to the most successful countries and BioRegions in Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Nordic countries, France (Lyon in particular).
First, it mainly focused on industrial requests, it now includes the participation of Welbio to address university requests and offers.
Main developments
Thanks to the good structuring of supply and demand via the platform, thanks to the interactions with its members, the cluster was able to support several projects.
Among other things:
– Participation in the project to reindustrialise masks in Wallonia
– Participation in FFP2 mask decontamination projects
Members involved: SalamanderU and the CHU of Liège
– Participation in the swab production project in Wallonia
– Participation in the development of a tracking application
– The positioning of diagnostics companies within the government
Members involved: Coris Bioconcept, Zentech, Analis and D-Tek
