For the past ten years, researchers and doctors have considered sleep as a major public health issue. In particular, sleep apnea syndrome is frequently cited. At each interruption of breathing, your heart and your brain are under stress. Night after night your sleep is disturbed, your quality of life is altered. Respiratory sleep disorders are associated with an increased risk of high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. More common in men, the disease affects 12% of the adult population and risk factors include age and obesity. Unfortunately, current solutions are often uncomfortable, invasive or expensive.
